Abstract

The article discusses the forms of spatial planning (national, spatial or territorial, land use, regional, urban, landscape and recreational, planning) and its connection with the possibilities of geographical science.


Spatial planning should ensure: integration of sectoral (sectoral) strategy, national and transnational integration, adaptation to climate change, sustainable development of the country, prevention of environmental and social risks, optimization of settlement system and urbanization, reliability of transport and engineering infrastructure.


Spatial planning, due to its versatility, is the most difficult scientific and practical activity. In this process, the reliability of the definition of the base unit for the location of geographic objects, the use of the methodology of geographic analysis and synthesis for the assessment of sustainable development, etc., become crucial.


It is clear that spatial planning of any level and the effective use of the methodology of geographic analysis and synthesis in it, determination of the scope and object of research, systematic and systematic assessment of the spatial-temporal development of geographic objects, events and processes is one of the main challenges of modern geographical science.
