Main Article Content
Abstract
Mountains are rich in many types of natural resources, of which drinking water, hydropower, solar and wind energy, thermal and mineral waters are especially important for mankind. Mountains in the world are distinguished by biological and landscape diversity, natural perfection and uniqueness. Because of this, mountains are the best “experimental” observation sites for scientists, where tectonic, geodynamic, climate and biological events and features of the global course of processes are visible.
Effective development of mountainous regions could be achieved in the case of sustainable use of diverse resources of mountainous areas. However, they are currently facing a number of problems, among which climate change stands out.
Various activities are implementing at international and regional level to mitigate consequences of global climate change, although in some cases, activities have lack of influence dues to its scope of action. Situation requires consideration of current situation and present experience.
