Abstract

Geographical Archaeology (Geoarchaeology) is an adjacent science of Geography and Archaeology. It combines the humanities (social) and natural sciences, Discusses the historical dimension of human-environmental relations, studies the cultural development of society against the background of the relevant natural area, as well as changes in the natural environment, analyzes anthropogenic factors of landscape change. Modern methods of remote sensing (including interpretation of aerial and satellite imagery) as well as geographic information system (GIS) are used in geographical-archaeological research methods.


The article discusses the essence and significance of Geographical Archaeology (Geoarchaeology), perspectives, connection with other sciences, awareness in Georgia, What and which research methods are used in the research process of Geographical Archaeology (Geoarchaeology) and what is needed for it.
