Abstract
The article presents the historical aspects of the formation and development of modern flora and vegetation of Adjara, which are based on the analysis of the results of research published by individual researchers of the last century. About 15-20 million years ago, global glaciation caused woody plants to move south and survive where the climate was relatively warm and humid – the so-called. In refugiums. One such refuge is Colchis, which geographically covers the eastern part of the Black Sea basin and has become home to many relict woody and herbaceous species.
