Challenges and prospects of sustainable development of tourism in mountainous regions (on the example of Swiss Canton of Jura)

Abstract

Tourism is a socio-cultural phenomenon that plays an important role in the economic and social development of society. The tourism industry creates jobs, promotes small business development, enhances social interaction between cultures, etc. Sustainable development of tourism is an important challenge for the modern world. The development of tourism is accompanied by forms of social, economic and ecological impact (both positive and negative), which increases day by day along with the scale of tourism production.

The paper discusses the challenges and prospects of sustainable development of tourism on the example of the canton of Juri (Switzerland). Conflicts directly related to the impact of tourism on the environment are highlighted.
