Geographical Features of the Interdisciplinary Study of the Tourist Potential of the Administrative District (on the Example of Zestaponi Municipality)

Abstract

During the last decades in Georgia, tourism has become the fastest growing direction and one of the leading spheres in economics. There is an annual increase in the surge of tourists as well as in their demands. (see diagram.1) The elements of natural environment, which are distinguished by their uniqueness and attractive sides, have become popular among the new directions of tourism.

The article discusses the tourism-recreational resources identified as a result of interdisciplinary research on tourism potential in Zestafoni Municipality, the identification, study and planning of which will contribute to the development of tourism. It should be noted that such a geographical-tourist survey is a novelty for the municipality, a similar one has not been conducted before. The study made a complex assessment of both the tourism sector and geographical components: landscape, hydrology, climate, climate, etc.
